Picnics at Oaks Park

Known as the premier gathering spot in Portland, Oaks Amusement Park has provided the ideal location for summertime events for over 100 years!

Hundreds of companies, families, community groups, and schools choose our beautiful day-use picnic grounds as the place to party every year. Combine our lovely riverfront location, affordable rental fees, free parking, and plenty of fun activities, with our friendly event staff and you have a recipe for a successful and easy event.

Picnic Area rentals are available April - September.  Reservations are required.  Unbooked spaces may be available for walk-in rental; inquire at Guest Services.

Picnic Area Rental Policies

Reservations & Deposits
Reservations are required and must be made a minimum of 2 weeks in advance. A contract and a non-refundable deposit equal to the cost of the picnic area rental fee are due at the time of reservation.
Space Use
The renter will have exclusive use of the space(s) designated in their agreement from 9 AM to close on the specified rental date. No part of the event may interfere with neighboring spaces, public walk-ways, parking lots, etc.  All picnic areas come equipped with picnic tables; quantity and placement of tables at the discretion of Oaks Park. Special setup of tables requires an additional fee and must be arranged a minimum of 30 days before the rental date. Tent tops may not be moved or removed and may not be available before for rentals taking place before June 1. There is to be no driving or parking of motorized vehicles in any picnic areas; loading and unloading may be done from paved surface adjacent to the area (subject to limitations and availability).  The renter is responsible for reasonable cleanup of the rented area and the area must be left in the condition it was found upon arrival.
Food & Beverages
The renter may choose to bring in homemade food, use an outside caterer, or contract for catering services to be provided by Oaks Park.  If the renter chooses to use Oaks Park catering services, the order and payment in full are due a minimum of 30 days before the rental date. If the renter chooses to use an outside caterer the caterer must enter into a separate agreement and the renter will be charged a fee of 15% of the outside caterer's total invoice.  Oaks Park does not have BBQs available for rental or use by the renter or outside caterers.  The renter/caterer may bring their own grill for use within their area.  Grills may not be set under or near any structure or tent.  Coals must be disposed of in a designated charcoal receptacle; inquire at Guest Services for location.

The renter/outside caterer may supply their own non-alcoholic beverages. Non-alcoholic beverages are also available through our catering department. Outside alcohol is prohibited; alcohol must be purchased from Oaks Park, must be ordered a minimum of 30 days before the rental date, and must be paid for in full upon ordering.
Animals
Friendly dogs are welcome when leashed and attended at all times. Owners must cleanup after their animals.
